Mallory Lizana, originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, grew up in a small Mississippi town. Her journey in criminal law began in 2018 at a small defense firm, and she shortly thereafter received her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2019. During her time at USM, she traveled to Italy and worked with individuals seeking asylum in the European Union from Africa. Later she spent time in Ireland where she studied their criminal justice system and learned about the impact that the conflict, “The Troubles," had on it. These experiences fueled her passion for criminal defense in the United States.
Mallory's academic journey continued at Florida State University College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2021. While there, she gained certifications in Florida Legal Research, Legal Technology, Advanced Database Searching, and Practice Ready Research. She has also published articles in the Florida Bar Journal and the Animal Law Section of the Florida Bar's Newsletter, "The Paw Review."
Mallory relocated to Orlando where she continued her criminal law experience at the Ninth Judicial Circuit office of the Public Defender. She assisted with over 300 criminal cases, using this valuable experience Mallory continued to Longwell Lawyers. In March 2024, she was recognized as a top young lawyer for her excellence and professionalism, by The Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar. Mallory was selected out of “an overwhelming number of…impressive and competitive candidates throughout the state”.
